Writing a book is not for the faint of heart. It takes a lot of work and it can be mentally exhausting. But it can also be very rewarding. If is important that you determine who your audience is going to be before you write your book. If you do not learn to write to your audience, you will not keep your reader entertained. For example, if you are a health professional that is writing a book for the lay person, avoid using medical lingo that the average person does not understand. Using technical jargon may make you feel intelligent, but it will quickly alienate your readers.
The best way to develop your book is to outline it first. Determine the chapter headings and outline the specifics of what each chapter is going to contain. This will keep you organized and prevent you from rambling off in directions that may confuse the reader.
